Dr.
and prof. Guo-Qiang Chen is currently responsible for the
Department of Pathophysiology and Key Laboratory of Cell
Differentiation and Apoptosis of Ministry of Education, Shanghai
Jiao Tong University School of Medicine(SJTU-SM). He is also
director of Div. Cancer Genomics, Institute of Health Science,
Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, Chinese Academy of
Sciences/SJTU-SM.
He
got his Master and the Ph.D degrees in Shanghai Second Medical
University (presently SJTU-SM), respectively in 1985 and 1996.
Afterwards, he also worked as visiting assistant professor in
Paris and New York respectively in 1997 and 1999-2001. During the
recent more than ten years, Dr. Chen has been devoted his efforts
on the basic research about pathogenesis and therapeutics of
leukemia. Meanwhile, he published up to 40 articles in the
international peer-reviewed journals such as Blood, Leukemia,
JBC, which were cited totally by about 2200 of literatures.
These publications mainly involved the discoveries as following:
(1) In vitro and in vivo effects of arsenic trioxide (As2O3),
an effective drug for the treatment on acute promyelocytic
leukemia (APL), on leukemic and other malignant cells. Those
related discoveries were highly evaluated by the journals such as Science
and JNCI; (2) Discoveries of hypoxia-induced AML cell
differentiation and elucidation of its molecular mechanisms; (3)
Regulation of the expression of phospholipid scramblase 1 (PLSCR1)
by protein kinase C¦Ä (PKC¦Ä) and its roles in the process of
leukemic cell differentiation; (4) NSC606985 can effectivly induce
the cell apoptosis in AML and its signal pathway; (5) the
biological roles of leukemia related protein AML-ETO and found
that AML-ETO can increase the sensitivity of leukemic cells to
cell apoptosis and inhibit the cell proliferation
through up-regulating the expression of CX43.
