   HU GUO-YUAN, male, born in Suzhou on Oct. 16, 1942. Education: graduated from Nanjing Medical College in 1970; M.Sc. in pharmacology in Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1981; Ph.D. in neurophysiology in Institute of Neurophysiology, University of Oslo, Norway, in 1990; visiting scholar in Nobel Institute for Neurophysiology, Karolinska Institute, Sweden, in 1996, 1999. Appointments: Director of State Key Laboratory of Drug

 Research, Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica since 1996. Research field: neurophysiology and neuropharmacology, particularly interests in the mechanisms underlying neuronal plasticity and the mechanisms underlying the action of natural products on the central nervous system, etc. Publications: more than 20 articles published in international core journals such as Nature(Lond.), J. Physiol. (Lond.) etc.; more than 20 articles published in Chinese core journals such as Acta Pharmacol. Sin. etc. Co-author of 10 monographs.
