刘慧荣，女，1959年8月生，教授，博士生导师，山西医科大学生理教研室副主任，心血管受体研究室主任；美国心脏协会会员，国际心血管协会中国分会会员，中国生理学会会员，山西省老年学会老年保健专业委员会副主任委员。主要研究方向： 心血管受体免疫学、心肌缺血/再灌注损伤、老年心脏疾患易感性的机制与保护。

1981年毕业于长治医学院；1995年于山西医科大学获免疫学硕士学位；1999年于山西医科大学获生理学博士学位，2001年8月～2004年8月在美国Thomas Jefferson University 进行博士后研究，后转为合作研究者。2002年被批准为博士生导师。到目前为止，培养博士研究生6人、硕士研究生23人。

在攻读硕士研究生期间，确定出精液中补体抑制水平的正常值范围；证实了精液中补体抑制水平的降低是造成男性不育的主要原因之一。在攻读博士期间，发现并阐明了心肌重构与心脏受体抗体产生与相互作用的机制。研究结果以第一作者身份在《Autoimmunity》和《Journal of the American College of Cardiology》发表。2001年8月至2004年8月在美国托马斯•杰佛逊大学医院做博士后和合作研究者工作。回国以来，主要从事一氧化氮对心脏双重作用的系列研究，发现某些功能蛋白的硝基化是一氧化氮对心脏毒性作用的根本原因，而这些功能蛋白的亚硝基化则可能对心脏具有保护作用。研究结果发表在《CIRCULATION》、《JACC》等国际心血管研究领域的杂志。到目前为止，在国际、国内期刊发表论文和摘要86篇，其中被SCI收录29篇，累计影响因子为160.286。
