Professor
Zhu graduated from Department of Physics (Biophysics speciality)
University of Science and Technology of China in 1965. He joined
Shanghai Institute of Physiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences,
in the same year. Since then, he has done scientific research in
this institution, until this institution was abolished in 2000.
During this period, he had research training in Department of

His
main research interest is the general physiology and biophysics
of neuromuscular system. Before 80', he worked on the trophic
relationship between nerve and muscle, especially the neural
determination of muscle fiber type characteristics. After coming
back from the Britain, his interest tuned to the study of
excitation-contraction coupling of skeletal muscle. Recently,
his study is focusing on structure and function of ryanodine
receptor/calcium release channel.
