The effect of exogenous calmodulin on wall regeneration and the first division of Angelica dahurica protoplasts

After the purified CaM was added to the culture medium, the percentage of wall regeneration increased by 130%~140% after culturing for two days and that of division increased by 240% after culturing for 12 days. Both effects increased as the concentration of CaM rose from 1 to 10 #mu#g/ml; but when the CaM concentration reached 15 #mu#g/ml, the percentage of cells with first division and wall regeneration decreased. The addition of BSA had no detectable effect. CaM was detected in normal culture medium by Enzyme-linked Imunosabsorbent Assay (ELISA) and its contents increased with culture time.
